LAMA Positive about New FAA Acting Head
Press Release Jan 31, 2025
Chris Rocheleau appointed acting head of FAA
“Thursday morning’s appointment of Chris Rocheleau as acting head of the FAA looks like good news for General and Light Sport Aviation,” LAMA President and Chairman, Scott Severen commented. “Mr. Rocheleau has worked mostly out of the limelight, though commented on the threat of global warming and the need to address its dangers some time ago. This may bode well for those involved in alternative and sustainable fuels. Hopefully with MOSAIC’s mandate to simplify and vitalize General Aviation, the new rule should continue to be supported by the FAA.”
“Most important, we understand MOSAIC is not in danger at this time in terms of being slowed down or put on the chopping block. This is certainly good news for all those looking forward to the advances provided by MOSAIC.”
Rocheleau brings his collective experience form the Air Force (1987 – 1996), a short stint at the FAA in Operations, then as Senior Policy Advisor to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) from 2002-2005. Through 2022 he held several positions at FAA including Chief of Staff, Executive Director of International Affairs, Deputy Administrator for Policy, International Affairs and Environment, and Deputy Associate Administrator, Aviation Safety.
Rocheleau spent the past three years as the chief operating officer of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). The priorities there included safety and security, FAA reauthorization and modernization, and the need to minimize the aviation industry’s environmental impact.
LAMA is a not-for-profit association representing the interests of manufacturers of light aircraft, aircraft kits, engines, propellers, avionics, parts/subassemblies, suppliers and service providers of the light aircraft industry.
