Dear Dan:
I am writing to tell you and Larry Burke how important I feel the work that LAMA is currently doing for our industry. Because of your efforts, we as an industry are well represented with the FAA, in the ASTM process and with the insurance industry.
LAMA is the only qualified representative of our industry, period. Because of your and Larry’s selfless contributions, Light Sport Aviation has a unified voice and a professional image with the aviation media and government.
We were an early participant in the LAMA audit program. We were pleased to show the certificates to the FAA during our recent assessment and as a company benefited from the feedback we received during that process as well.
The marketing that LAMA does has the best interests of all the manufacturers and suppliers in mind, from shared advertising to the excellent LAMA Light Sport Malls. Most people don’t understand the difficulty and cost of displaying at the major air shows. The LAMA sponsored events may be the only way for many smaller companies to effectively participate.
The next few years look to be challenging for our industry and our sport. I am confident that we can best move forward by working together. By supporting LAMA we can be sure that our representation is fair, knowledgeable and has our best interests at heart.
Thank You!

Dear Light Sport Aviation Community:
In June 2008, BRS successfully completed a LAMA oversight audit for our entire BRS-6
Series parachute systems.
We are now proudly displaying the LAMA certificate, reflecting a successful audit as a
public statement of not only having completed a comprehensive audit, but most
importantly, announcing to the LSA Manufacturing community and the public that we
have an exemplary product that has been double-checked for aircraft safety.
In our view, it is not enough to say you have complied with LSA ASTM standards for
emergency parachutes systems, but that a third party, in this case LAMA, the Light
Aircraft Manufacturers Association, has conducted very comprehensive audits to the
ASTM standards and the production of our parachute systems.
We endorse the LAMA methodology, and are confident that their third party oversight in
keeping with the FAA vision for a self-certifying LSA industry, will insure compliance
with LSA ASTM standards for product and production, and provide to the FAA
confidence that our self-certification and consensus standards can be a viable and safe
method for future certification.
BRS understands, and we believe, that if we do not do our own contracting for oversight
audits, then the FAA will surely be more aggressive in doing so. Note that they have
already started an LSA industry assessment.
Therefore, we encourage the rest of the LSA industry, again in keeping with FAA
interests, to contact LAMA, and to contract with them to do your component and aircraft
third party oversight audits.
My best regards for your continuing success in LSA aviation.

Thank you for your considerable efforts directed to improving LAMA's effectiveness in the community and the industry as a whole. First hand at Oshkosh, I saw the significant amount of time you devoted to LAMA, and it is outstanding to see the rewards of your work so soon after the show - Thank you very much.
For several years now, LAMA has been persistent in its mission, and tenacious in assisting manufacturers understand, implement and integrate light sport aircraft issues. The expertise in communications within Washington DC, and practical application experience is shown partly by the LAMA Label program, an outstanding tool to promote safety and provide consumers a standard minimum level of product compliance.
The oversight LAMA has available is a great resource for us as a manufacturer, and I would think for the FAA as well.
As always, we are prepared to support LAMA and the industry in any way we can.
Thanks again for the productive efforts with LAMA! Cordially,
Scott Severen
