LAMA Board Member

Dave Martin completed a 17-year career as editor of KITPLANES magazine, which is about homebuilt aircraft, in 2003. For the past three years, he has written the KITPLANES "Light Stuff" column about light-sport aircraft and other light aircraft topics. His background includes a journalism degree, 22 years as a U.S. Navy flyer in fighters, and part-time work as an FAA-certified flight instructor for 23 years. He built and and flew three aircraft and has flown more than 160 types of licensed aircraft (mostly homebuilts) and 60+ types of ultralights.

For many years he has participated as a board member and in the annual LAMA President's award. Now living in Independence, Oregon, he and his wife enjoy the Spacewalker II open-cockpit taildragger they bought in 2003, and they expect to fly their Van's Aircraft RV 12 a lot after they finish and test it.
